LEO Pharma A/S(以下「LEO Pharma」は、尋常性乾癬治療用のカルシポトリール(0.005%)/ベタメタゾンジプロピオン酸エステル(0.064%)の配合エアロゾルフォーム剤を米国で承認申請したことを本日発表しました。
本申請は米国食品医薬品局(FDA)への新薬承認申請(NDA)です。
本剤は、カルシポトリール/ベタメタゾンジプロピオン酸エステルの新しい配合エアロゾルフォーム剤であり、臨床において最も一般的な乾癬1である尋常性乾癬2,3の患者さんの治療向上のために開発されたものです。
本承認申請は、尋常性乾癬の患者さんを対象に行った臨床試験結果に基づいてなされました。
LEO Pharma のGlobal Development 部門のシニア・バイスプレジデントであるKim Kjøllerはこう述べています。
「乾癬は慢性の経過をたどることから、患者さんの気力、活力を衰えさせるような疾患です。疾患の管理が適切に行われないと患者さんの苦しみは著しく増加し、糖尿病や癌*4の患者さんのようにQOL(quality of life: 生活の質)が低下します。乾癬の患者さんの苦しみを軽くしていくという私どもの使命は、今回の新しい配合エアロゾルフォーム剤承認申請によって、さらに一歩前進しました。」
欧州や他の国々での承認申請は2015年から2016年にかけて行われる予定です。
LEO Pharmaは今回の承認申請を機に「世界中の人々が健康な皮膚を手に入れるための手助けをする」という使命への取り組みをさらに強めてまいります。
乾癬について
- 乾癬は慢性の炎症性疾患であり、メタボリックシンドロームや関節症性乾癬4等、多くの身体的、精神的な合併症をしばしば伴います。
- 欧米諸国では人口の約2~4%が乾癬に罹患していると推定されています5。
- 乾癬の患者さんの80%は尋常性乾癬で、これが最もよくみられる病型となっています1。
- 患者さんの90%以上が慢性で継続的な治療が必用です1。また、約80%の患者さんが軽度または中等度の乾癬であるため*1、外用薬が第一選択治療となっています。
